Keynote speaker Philip Niemer

Cole Davis – Safety Professional of Year Cole Davis, Corporate Safety Director of Nova Group, Inc., Napa, is the

AGC/Harry Eckstein Safety Professional of the Year. Named in honor of Guy F. Atkinson Company’s former safety director,

Harry Eckstein, the prestigious award reflects the safety knowledge and experience, the quality and effectiveness of the award winner’s company safety program, as well as the leadership quality and performance displayed by the individual. Davis has 13 years’ experience as a safety professional in the construction

industry and brings a pragmatic, focused and driven approach to fostering a safe work environment. He joined Nova in 2012 as a site safety & health officer, and after successful completion of a complicated Navy project that received a Star Safety Award he was promoted to Corporate Safety Director in March 2013. Davis has championed Nova safety innovations and new safety training

standards, while simultaneously more than doubling the size of his safety team to accommodate recent growth at Nova as a result of acquisition by a publicly traded company, Quanta Services. He increased Nova’s involvement in safety industry organizations and is always looking for new and innovative practices and safety techniques to further both Nova and the construction industry as a whole. Under his guidance, Nova’s safety efforts received multiple industry recognition in 2014 and 2015 from owner’s groups and the industry. Nova Group Pacific

Northwest Opera- tions Manager Walt Schwartz said that Davis “encourages positivity, open communication and continued improvement in all aspects of Nova’s safety program.”
