Chris Morgan – Safety Professional of Year Christopher Morgan, Safety Director of Griffith Company, Brea, is the

AGC/Harry Eckstein Safety Professional of the Year. Named in honor of Guy F. Atkinson Company’s former safety director,

Harry Eckstein, the prestigious award reflects the safety knowledge and experience, the quality and effectiveness of the award winner’s company safety program, as well as the leadership quality and performance displayed by the individual. With 18 years’ experience working as a safety professional, Morgan initially

joined Griffith Company in 2012 after previously consulting with the company as an insurance professional. His arrival at Griffith immediately had a positive impact on their safety performance, cutting incident rates in half initially and improving upon them year over year since. Morgan quickly moved to integrate safety considerations into management

functions, prioritizing what management was already doing for themselves and incorporating safety into those activities. He helped innovate several unique programs at Griffith, including a penalty policy that replaced prior “three strikes” rules. Morgan helped Griffith increase electronic reporting, and along with a single contractor built the initial version of Safety Mojo software for incident reporting. Within three months, Griffith Company decided to build the software “Safety Mojo” due to its successful traction in the organi- zation and value potential within the industry. Morgan has become a strong industry advocate for electronic safety management in addition to his role managing sales and features updates in the Safety Mojo business unit he created. Active within AGC of California as well as other

industry organizations, Morgan has spoken at AGC meetings both in California and at the national level.
