Rejoicing in Hardships

was overjoyed with a report from a recent guest group that several adults had accepted the call of the Holy Spirit and made professions of faith during their retreat. We rejoice in these decisions for Christ which are the basis for all the work we do at Bonclarken!     hosted occurred in 1922 with a “good clear vision” of being a place set- apart---a place where people would be inspired and renewed in their faith in Jesus Christ. Bonclarken’s Board of Trustees has not strayed from this vision. Just as adults accepting Christ would have been a cause for celebra- tion in 1922, we rejoice in the same decisions today.

2022 will mark 100 years of service for our conference center. In my future articles, I’ll share more details on our plans for the 100th Anniversary cel- ebration. We hope you will join us in one or more of these exciting activities.      

“Pruning and Praise” and how Board members Brad Anderson and Connie Savell had shared that the pandemic had pruned us and given us further reasons to praise. I had mentioned in that article that I hoped the pandemic would be behind us and we could fo-

guests. We normally have 17,000 guests, but we had only 3,534 in 2020. We had hoped to have 10,000 guests in 2021 and were on track to reach that number until the August spike caused numerous fall groups to cancel. Just like so many of businesses throughout the country, we are facing hard- ships in attracting staff. Our summer staff was as barely half of what we nor- mally have. Numerous part-time staff help us during the busy fall weekends… but we have not been able to attract the number of staff we need. However, through the challenges the pandemic presents we know one con- stant—that God’s hand has been on Bonclarken for these past 100 years and will continue to be for our next 100 years. We look forward to continuing to be in service to our ARP denomination and to like-minded Christian groups from around the country and world. Make plans to come see us in 2022. We look forward to seeing you often!
