MEET THE KVMA LMU STUDENT CHAPTER OFFICERS (CONT.)
My name is Courtney Hellmann and I am from Independence Ky. I went to Te University of Kentucky for undergrad and have been a big fan of all things Kentucky for as long as I can remember. I have had the privilege of growing up with my dad being a veterinarian and a member of the KVMA. I plan to return home after school to work with my dad and learn all about what being a veterinarian in Kentucky has to offer. I have enjoyed growing up hearing of all of the stories my dad has with the KVMA and I am beyond excited to begin making my own memories with the KVMA.
Class of 2026 Representative – Grace Banks My name is Grace Banks and I’m from Naples, Maine, but I’m interested in working in Kentucky. I went to the University of Maine where I attained my Bachelor’s in Animal and Veterinary Science with a minor in Equine Studies. Upon graduation, I hope to practice equine sports medicine and reproduc- tion. In my free time, I love hiking with my dog, Cooper, and horseback riding!
Class of 2027 Representative –Morgan Cornelius My name is Morgan Cornelius. I grew up in the small town of Pineville, Ken- tucky but made Lexington my second home when I attended the University of Kentucky. I am still very involved with the University of Kentucky and their alumni association, where I have built such rewarding relationships. I am honored to say that I was recently awarded the Joseph T. Burch Young Alumni Award from the University of Kentucky. While I was there, my love for small animal medicine never wavered, but my passion for building rela- tionships with farmers and practicing large animal medicine rapidly grew. Tis school really instilled in me how agriculturally-based and veterinarian-re- liant the state of Kentucky is. Did you know Kentucky has the most beef cattle of any state east of the Mississippi River? I had the honor and privilege of working with many veterinarians that I now consider pillars on the path to my career. I worked with Dr. Emma Adam, who I now have the honor of having as a professor at LMU. I worked in a small animal clinic in Lexington for several years, that is actually one of LMU’s clinical rotation sites. I have had experience at the Kentucky Horse Park, working Clydesdales and giving tours to those who love Kentucky just as much as I do. I have also worked at the Paris Stockyards and at a mixed animal clinic in Clark County. I plan to stay in the state I love most and practice mixed animal medicine, while serv- ing farmers and producers who are underserved. I hope to utilize my resources and relationships to the utmost to help our class and to grow their love and passion for the state of Kentucky.
