I  FALL 2016 | LA VITA LAMBORGHINI

n its 66th year, the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance once again formed the stage of the most prestigious car event in the world. Te 2016 event celebrated many notable historical automotive features, including 50

years since the Ford GT40 1-2-3 finish at LeMans in 1966 (these cars were among other winning GT40’s displayed on the lawn), and 50 years of the Lamborghini Miura with a great display on the concours lawn. Lamborghini Miuras have made their way to

Monterey Car Week just about every year since the late 1970s to participate in Lamborghini Club America events, the Concorso Italiano, Te Quail Motor Sports Gathering, various car auctions, and for the Pebble Beach concours. Tese appearances in Monterey for the Car Week have been frequent for the model, but not at Pebble Beach. Te Pebble Beach concours has featured the Lamborghini Miura on the lawn only a few times through the years including Nicolas Cage’s Miura SVJ in 2000, three Miuras for the 45th anniver-

sary of Automobili Lamborghini in 2008, three Miuras for the 50th Anniversary of Automobili Lamborghini in 2013, and now five Miuras for the 50th Anniversary of the Lamborghini Miura. One additional Miura SV was at the Pebble Beach event but not shown on the lawn; it was part of the Lamborghini corporate display at Peter Hay Hill. (Peter Hay Golf Course is adjacent to Pebble Beach and is a high-traffic site that Pebble Beach Concours spectators traverse on their way to and from the Concours show field.) Te entries on the lawn this year included

three S models and two SV models in a class titled “Lamborghini Miura 50th Anniversary” designated as Pebble Beach Concours class “S.” Specifically participants included: the Meier family with their early Miura S (the 348th Miura built; Bertone body #448 with a Lamborghini pro- duction date of March 12th 1969), Jerry and Anne Brubaker with their late Miura S (the 603rd Miura built; Bertone body #703 with Lamborghini pro- duction date of March 17th 1971),
