Whether he’s sinking shots on the basketball court or sprinting down the track, Rhett is fueled by something far bigger than competition or accolades. His faith approach to sports, school, and life. “I know that no matter what happens in my sports or my life in general, God will always be there for me,” Rhett says. “He’ll work everything out for my good. I just need to trust His plan.”
How Faith Drives Rhett Fisher On & Off the Court
That faith has carried Rhett through challenges most people don’t see. He’s been blessed to avoid major injuries, but being undersized hurdles. Rather than let those struggles hold him back, he leaned on hard work and his faith. “Athletic success comes from working as hard as you can and always giving 110%,” he explains. “Then you just have to leave the rest up to God.” On the basketball court, Rhett has been a varsity player since his freshman year and now serves as a team captain. He’s earned recognition for his sportsmanship and ethics, including the MSHSAA lades, it’s the bonds. “Everyone loves winning, but you cannot win room, and that’s how you succeed.” He’s earned all-conference and all-district honors and Academic All-State, but what stands out most to him are the relationships. “It’s encouraging to see all kinds of people come out to watch you do something you love,” he says. “Having friends and family cheering for you makes sports so much more fun.”

For Rhett, sports have always been a way to live out his faith “set an example in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity.” He takes that seriously, especially when it comes to handling wins and losses. “While it’s not always easy to be gracious in defeat, I try my best to be respectful to the other team and the refs, whether I win or lose,” he says.
