ARPinterest by Susan Tanner Tea parties

I love tea parties. It started when I was young. My mom would take out the teapot and put whatever herbal tea that was fragrant and semi-sweet and we would put out all the cups, saucers, napkins, little spoons (a must), and sugar or honey. It was such a fun time of               also a tea person - black tea with milk and sugar for her. So, I started it with my daughter. We would pull out my tea set in my china and we had extravagant parties. My mother loved to have them when she came to visit us in SC. Now my daughter is 21, working lots and too busy for tea parties but she remembers all our teas. And winning a tea set at a tea party we went to at a tea house. I don’t have grands yet to keep the tradition going but I do how-

ever, have a church friend with 5 children under 8 and I started the tradition with them! When they come over to visit and have mom’s permission to do a tea party at Miss Katey’s house, they come in and go directly to my collection of tea cups and begin setting the table. The children are careful to set the cups and saucers up, get the small              it with hot water add the tea bags and then after steeping a while I add cold water so we drink safely. Sometimes we do warm apple juice. Honey is a very important part of the tea and sometimes we have a little something to go along with the tea like fruit or cookies. The children love this tradition and often whisper to me at church, “Can we come over today and have a tea party?”

I love that tea parties were offered to me when I was young and that my tea party traditions have continued through the ages. I hope that my little friends will continue them on with          when we work together to make it happen and it leaves us around the table talking, laughing, and sipping tea.

• There is a devil, and prayer is the God-appointed means of resisting him. • Prayer is God’s way for us to obtain what we need from Him. • The apostles considered prayer to be the priority of business in their lives. • Prayer occupied a prominent place and played a very important part in the earthly life of our Lord.

• Prayer is the present ministry of our Lord since He is now interceding for us. • Prayer is the means God has appointed for our receiving mercy from Him and help in time of need.

• Prayer is the means of obtaining the fullness of God’s joy. • Prayer with thanksgiving is the means of obtaining freedom from anxiety and the peace which passes understanding.

• Prayer is the means by which we are to keep watchful and be alert. • Prayer is used by God to promote our spiritual growth, bring power into our work, lead others to faith in Christ, and bring all other blessings to Christ’s church.
