Growing up in the home of a Pastor who preached regularly at Camp Joy over the years meant that I had the op- portunity to attend well before I was old enough to serve as a Counselor and Staff member. It’s always been a joy to serve at Camp Joy; a desire that doesn’t leave as you age. I was able to bring my family with me in 2017 to Camp Joy North Carolina and I’m excited to be able to bring my family this summer to Camp Joy Virginia.

What makes Camp Joy so special? That’s hard to put into words. It is one of

Lives are changed at Camp Joy and that impact directs people into careers that serve the disability community in profound ways for the glory of God. Whether that’s through becoming an occupational therapist, speech therapist, or a self-contained special education teacher. More important than career paths; I’ve seen lost counselors hear the gospel and give their lives to Christ while at Camp Joy. Lives are affected by Camp Joy and those moments change how we spend the rest of our lives and eternity!

The Brice Sanders Foundation does an outstanding job providing camps in Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia. It’s the desire of the Brice Sanders Board to keep registration costs low for the families that attend to avoid creating a barrier for entry while also allowing students and families to serve as Staff without cost. While the Brice Sanders Foundation is an agency of the Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church they are not currently receiving De- nominational Ministry Funds. How do they bridge the gap between the income they receive from campers and the expenses they incur at camp? One of the ways the Brice Sanders Foundation seeks to raise funds is through the encouragement of their staff and counselors to raise the cost for their par- ticipation. For the 2024 season, that cost is roughly $500 per person. For my family of 5 to attend Camp Joy there is a cost of $2,500. I approached my local church First Associate Reformed Presbyterian of Rock Hill, SC in my efforts to raise these funds. Between the Missions Committee and Women’s Ministry, First ARP supported us with a donation to the Brice Sanders Foundation of $1,500. Not only is First ARP supporting us this summer but they’re working on adding funds for the 2025 budget to support others serving at Camp Joy. I was able to raise additional funds by reaching out to family and friends so that  In Philippians 4, Paul thanks the Philippian church for their willingness to partner along with him in his ministry. In Matthew 5 we are able to read where Jesus sends his disciples out with instructions to rely on others for their needs. In the same way, we know and trust that God will provide for the mission of Camp Joy. He’s done so faithfully since its inception. The Brice Sanders Foundation provides an excellent way for churches to

What a JOY it would be to see our local ARP churches supporting their youth by budgeting and providing additional funding to one of our own; the Brice Sanders Foundation.
