Bonclarken

Behind the Scenes---Our Guest Services Team W

CHIP SHERER President

hen guests arrive at Bonclarken, they often no- tice the peaceful setting, the comfortable accommodations, and the welcoming atmosphere that seems to embrace them from the moment they step onto our grounds. What they may not immediately see, however, is the

dedicated team working faithfully behind the scenes to make certain each stay is meaningful and seamless. This month, I want to shine a light on a group whose service is essential to everything we do: our Guest Services team. Led by Heather Hayes, our Director of Guest Services, the Guest Services team is, in many ways, the backbone of daily life at the conference center. These team members ensure that every room is prepared, every space is clean, and every detail is thoughtfully attended to.          - tors Bill McGee and Nathaniel Pace, Lesleigh Miller, and Shelby Hering. We have four part-time team members: Madison Brezillac, Lucas Dellinger, Olivia Martin, and Katie Weinbach. During the summer months, we bring on a large group of young people to help manage the increased workload and responsi- bilities that come with the summer season. Housekeeping is one of the primary responsibilities of our Guest Services team, and it goes far beyond routine cleaning. Fresh linens, spotless bathrooms,

neatly arranged rooms—these are expressions of hospitality, offered in the spirit of Christian service. In ad- dition to caring for guest rooms, the team is also responsible for setting up meeting spaces that host every- thing from small prayer gatherings to large conferences. This work re- quires attention to detail—tables and chairs must be arranged just right, audio-visual equipment must be in place and functioning, and special re- quests—from extra seating to unique     presentation equipment—must be      Often, these setups change multiple times prior to and during a retreat, requiring the team to move quickly. What makes their work truly spe- cial, however, is not just the tasks themselves, but the spirit in which they are carried out. Our Guest Ser- vices team understands that their role is part of a larger ministry. They are actively supporting the life-chang- ing experiences that happen here.        meeting space enables worship and  their service becomes a key part of God’s work at Bonclarken.

The next time you visit Bonclarken, I encourage you to take a moment to appreciate the spaces you enjoy— and to remember the hands that pre- pared them. Better yet, offer a word of thanks to a Guest Services team member. We are so blessed by this dedicated and hard-working group.
