Thousands of counselors have worked at Camp Joy since 1980, and while it’s a tall order, we want to reach out and connect with as many as possible. Especially since we are starting to plan our 50th anniversary in 2029!! Camp Joy…. Life Lessons and Many Blessings
and bring some youth with you. This was my introduction to quietly told me she was stepping down and wondered if I would - Camp Joy is a special place. There isn’t a camp like it. Being a special friend to one of our special friends is one of the greatest lessons. The one-on-one counselor relationship is so special. The relationship is truly developed in the room by helping your spe- cial friend choose clothes, tying shoes, helping one in the bath- room, getting your camper up in the morning, putting them to bed at night and doing prayer time and devotion with them each night. If the counselor does his or her job correctly, then the bond is formed in the room. The bond is then enhanced throughout the day’s activities of camp.

important relationship and it enables us to give of ourselves to others, putting ourselves last. I have used what I learned at - group leader and now Co-Camp Director of Camp Bonclarken, Bonclarken Music Conference and Camp Director of the Bonclarken Music Drama Camp. It works with young people in public school, the church, adult choir members, church ministry and camp ministry. I use the we build in ministry, are formed by personal contact, caring for me these important parts of ministry and I a forever thankful for follow His calling. I am thankful for the blessings that continue to be given to me and so many others through Camp Joy.
