l Role of Righteous- Christ
in Christ Jesus, possessing the char- acter and power of the Lord Jesus and — in possession of the charac- ter and power of the Lord Jesus — is capable of doing what is right and righteous in the same character and power of the Lord and able to seek The one made righteous is simultane- ously made a doer of what is right! A doer of what is right is righteous, according to Jesus, and will do what he commands because he now loves and hungers and thirsts for what Je- sus loves: righteousness (Matt. 5:6), (Matt. 3:15).
Let me underscore the principal point I am making here. An individ- ual who has been redeemed by the saving power of the work of Christ on the cross is only at the beginning of the work of the Holy Spirit in his life! He is righteous in status only because he has been forgiven of the sin of Adam! At this point, he has done nothing righteous! He is, then, not righteous as a doer of righteous deeds until he does something right and righteous. It is only when he — now a new person indwelt and em- powered by the Holy Spirit — does something right and righteous that he begins to do the deeds that build the invincible Church Jesus died to build (Matt. 16:18), the deeds that are “has made herself ready” (Rev. 19:7; emphasis added). With this information, a congrega- tion will know that a redeemed indi- vidual will be righteous and do righ- teous deeds and, in keeping with the predetermined design of election, be building Christ’s invincible Church as he, a true Christian, grows in righ- teousness and holiness until Jesus re- turns (Rev. 22:11)!
