 What can your associations expect when you are back up to speed? Can we start setting those expectations now? What can we do to keep in contact with our business partners who may not being working since the Stay Home, Stay Safe order? Can we get a jump on project planning for when they are back up and running again?

 What have you learned about your community in these sensitive times? now? And who now more than ever wants to invite the neighbor family over for a playdate and burgers? How much more aware of the work your board does for you as communications increase? Have you realized ways you can contribute to your association as we move through these different times?

What a wonderful opportunity we have to realign priorities, clarify communications, and further streamline how we complete tasks for our owners, boards and business partners.

Community Outreach

WSCAI has much to offer when it comes to our membership and continuing to help our community at large is one of them. Every year managers and Business Partners unite for the outreach programs that we partner with, and even though times are rough right now, the Chapter is still able to show up and be visible to others in need.

Eleanor Garrison from Ronald McDonald has worked with the Community Outreach Committee for several years and speaks to the hardships that the families are experiencing. “The donation that is most helpful to us at this point is a  and especially food.”

Thanks to the generosity of HUB International, McLeod Construction and Superior Cleaning and Restoration, Ronald McDonald House still got our support in April. In lieu of dinner, we were able to donate the funds directly.

Another way we’re able to support our community is being present and sharing resources — resources that may help  Housing has partnered with WSCAI every summer for their

school supplies drive, an event that we’ve looked forward to every summer. There are currently 5,000 people who call Mercy Housing home, and coronavirus has changed everything  sharing the link on your social media accounts, company websites and other media outlets is just as appreciated.

Given all the mayhem and uncertainty tied around the  silver linings, even if they’re small ones. The Chapter offers vast amounts of information to stay connected.

We can test new social tools and revisit Caitlin Traub’s article as she alluded to different social media platforms and how to use them, or we could remind ourselves of Ila Dickenson’s article who encouraged us to step out and “see” our communities. This could mean your own backyard, or your associations, to #optoutside and take a walk. After all, fresh air is “essential” to our mental health and a very important aspect to keep this temporary new way of life going.

Stay positive my friends, we’re all doing our best and it’s important to remember that.
