Outstanding Homeowner Leader Awards

The Outstanding Homeowner Leader Award recognizes a homeowner leader who demonstrates outstanding contributions to CAI, the association they serve, and to their surrounding communities. This individual is committed to, and clearly understands their role and fiduciary responsibility as a community volunteer. CAI is pleased to recognize the 2022 Outstanding Homeowner Leader:

MAUREEN ROZAK – Maureen has been involved with improvements in all aspects of the condo association since she purchased her unit in late 2016 and was elected to the board in February 2017. She has served on the board in various capacities since that time. She not only serves on the board, but also takes on other projects to make the association and building a better place to live. She has shored up association finances, revised rules & regulations, negotiated contracts, and made many property improvements, all while getting to know her neighbors. She is a true asset to her community.

Andrea Sorgani President’s Award

New this year, CAI-IL instituted the Andrea Sorgani President’s Award. The purpose of the award is two-fold: not only to recognize the exemplary service of a volunteer but also to celebrate the memory of the dedicated CAI leader whom we lost in 2021. Andrea was a leader by nature, most well known in the industry since the early ‘80s as a respected entrepreneur and owner of ALMA Property Management Services. With CAI, she is perhaps best known for serving as Chapter President for three years in 2009-2011. Her service goes well beyond this short period of time as she was a visionary leader for the Illinois Chapter. She employed many, helped others to start their own businesses and won numerous awards for her leadership and contributions to the Illinois property management industry. Her caring nature, positive attitude, sense of humor and fun spirit are just some of the qualities she shared with us. Her kindness and goodwill were endless and served as inspiration to the many people around her, making both our personal and professional lives better. Her contributions are familiar to many and are spoken of throughout the organization to this very day. Andrea was a guiding force that embodied the characteristics we seek in all volunteers and keeping the memory of her achievements and leadership alive is important for the success of continued volunteer development.

The award is presented at the discretion of the Chapter President to recognize an individual who has displayed exemplary service and commitment to CAI and who has been instrumentational in helping the President achieve CAI’s goals. The inaugural recipient of the Andrea Sorgani President’s Award is Kerry Bartell of KSN (Kovitz Shifrin Nesbit). Kerry embodies many of the characteristics of the award’s namesake. She is a respected leader who served on the CAI Board of Directors for six years, and in the role of President for two of those years. Kerry consistently steps forward when asked to help the Chapter, whether through committee work, authoring articles, reviewing curriculum, speaking, or championing CAI efforts. Kerry currently chairs the Volunteer Training Commission that provides orientation for new volunteers and enhances the positive volunteer experience for our chairs and committee members. She has been a tremendous behind-the-scenes support for our current President, Michele DuBois, and has helped Michele achieve many chapter goals this year. Kerry is well-deserving to be the first recipient of this prestigious award. Congratulations, Kerry!
