as the first opportunity to create the most favorable outcomes for the construction industry by engaging candidates early before the General election. While many races will be intraparty

contests amongst Democrats, there are important differences. Candidates within the Democratic party can identify any- where between “Democratic socialists” and “moderate Democrats.” Engaging candidates early and making strategic decisions on whom to support will be more important this election cycle than has in prior election cycles. Accompanying this article is a list of those legislators that will not be seeking election to the state legislature as of the writing of this article. Please do not hesitate to contact AGC of California or its advocates if you have insight or infor- mation on candidates seeking to replace these outgoing members.

AGC of California and its advocates

have enjoyed the relationships built with these legislators – almost all of whom sup- ported the passing of Senate Bill 1 in 2017. A landmark and bold policy proposal to increase fuel taxes for California’s highway, road and rail infrastructure was no easy feat. For that alone, we’re grateful to them for their service and we wish them well

Anthony Portantino (D) – Termed Out

Richard Roth (D) – Termed Out Steven Bradford (D) – Termed Out Toni Atkins (D) – Termed Out

in their next policy and political chapter. As for the class of 2024, we’re eager to meet and work with you!
