GiGi’s Playhouse, Roseville Taking the lead for her region, Lasiter organized EL participation in a chari- table event benefitting an organization that is near and dear to her heart: GiGi’s Playhouse Sacramento. Te nonprofit, formed to change how the world views Down Syndrome, provides free educa- tional, therapeutic-based, and career development programs for individuals with Down Syndrome, their families, and the community, through a replicable playhouse model.
Lasiter sits on the board of GiGi’s Play- house and is also a mother of a child with Down’s Syndrome. She enlisted other EL members and co-workers from Granite to participate in volunteering at “GiGiFit Acceptance Challenge,” which took place on April 15, 2023. Te event featured a 5k run/walk, one-mile walk and 21-yard dash for kids as well as a variety of food vendors and other fun family friendly vendors and activities. Now in its third year, the fundraiser
raised about $45,000 and drew about 450 registered participants from around the community, according to Lasiter. “It definitely required a big community and team effort to put something like this on,” she commented. “Everything went without any issues to make it a really successful event.”
AGC of California EL members volunteered at the GiGiFit Acceptance Challenge in Northern California.
