mall businesses, prime contractors, owners/agencies and others in the construction industry turned out


for AGC of California’s annual Northern California Small Business Construction Expo (SBCX) on Wednesday, May 24, at the Craneway Pavilion in Richmond, California. Caltrans Director Tony Tavares headlined the event as the keynote speaker.


“Tis is an exciting expo that AGC of


California and others are sponsoring. I hope you take advantage of it, meet with people, network, and build those rela- tionships,” Tavares said. He emphasized the need for small and underrepresented contractors to partner with Caltrans in


order to deliver an estimated 800 proj- ects valued at $17 billion over the next three years.


Vital Partnerships “What it all comes down to is partner- ships; we do not stand alone in our en- deavors,” Tavares added. “It really takes the partnerships with everyone here today and partnerships with all our stake- holders throughout the state to deliver (our projects), and to ensure that we are meeting the needs of small businesses, disadvantaged businesses, veteran owned business, underutilized businesses. We don’t just want to help you provide a bid; we want to help you win a bid. We
