Next Generation of Construction Leadership Gives Back
BY CAROL EATON
DURING NATIONAL VOLUNTEER MONTH this April, 2023, members from AGC of California’s Emerging Leaders (EL) and AGC Student Chapters came together with a common purpose: to lift up the communities in which they live, work and study. In a strong showing of how the next generation of construction leadership gives back, they donated their time, skills, labor, and creativity to a diverse array of community-based causes across California. Tese volunteer efforts included a temporary homeless shelter expansion in Chico, a hosted dinner for residents of a family shelter in Garden Grove, and a fitness fundraiser for an organization serving individuals with Down’s Syndrome in the Sacramento area, to name just a few. Collectively, the projects showcased the many ways California’s next generation of construction leaders are committed not only to building quality projects, but also to building up their communities. “I’ve always been a big advocate of giving back to your communi- ty, so it was great to have the (AGC of California) Emerging Leaders come together to participate in community-based projects across the state during national volunteer month,” commented Ashley Lasiter, project manager/estimator for Granite Construction and board member for EL in the Sacramento region.
