ompetition may be the lifeblood of the construction industry, but for small and underrepresented
businesses the path to success and growth is often more about collaboration, con- nection and relationship building. Tat is the focus of AGC of Califor-
nia’s Small/Underrepresented Business (SUB) Forum, an ongoing program that connects California’s SUB contractors with opportunities, primes, agencies, and industry experts. Te virtual gathering offers practical and useful information for SUBs on a range of topics designed to help new and growing businesses hone their competitive edge. “The SUB Forum is an accessible
and informative virtual gathering space for the SUB community, designed to connect SUBs with educational and relationship-building opportunities to help their businesses grow,” said Nasim Adeli, AGC of California SUB partnership manager. “Tanks to collaboration with our members and partners, we can invest in the future of the construction industry.” Tat collaboration was evident during
the March 28 SUB Forum, which drew over 160 registrants. Te Forum was sponsored and led by AGC of California general contractor member Webcor. It focused on helping SUBs understand how to submit a competitive and standout bid, how to prequalify, and why prequalification is important for every company no matter their size. It also showcased upcoming market opportunities and supplier diver- sity programs from several large general contractors, including Webcor, McCarthy, and Swinerton. Sharla Sullivan, Webcor’s outreach
and partnerships manager, said the value of participating on the SUB Forums as well as on AGC of California’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DE&I) steering committee (of which she is a member) factored into Webcor’s decision to join
