Steve Acosta, Blach Construction A 30-year construction industry veteran, Steve Acosta joined Blach in 2010. After playing an integral part on several com-
plex projects, he earned a promotion to safety manager, and is responsible for overseeing all aspects of environmental health and safety compliance at Blach. Why did he sign up for the program? “Project
Engage was appealing to me because it provided an opportunity to connect with other leaders in the construction industry,” he said. “I decided to participate after a colleague shared how impact- ful the program’s proactive “tool kit” was to her. Tis “tool kit” helped her to better understand the people and teams she worked with on a day-to-day basis and provided a platform to set clear intentions and achieve optimal outcomes.” Acosta added, “Overall, Project Engage has
enabled me to gain insight on how others man- age change and establish greater clarity and connections within their respective companies.” Leadership opportunities like this “help us
construction pros be more effective at accurately setting expectations and subsequently, encour- aging positive outcomes for workers, partners – everyone involved,” he said. “Bottom line, we’re all striving to meet different objectives. How we meet them is influenced by the leaders. Why not make it a positive experience for everyone?”
