Nick Pfeifer, Project Manager, Nova Group Inc. Nick Pfeifer has worked in the construction industry for seven years and serves as
project manager for Nova Group Inc. He has built U.S. Department of Defense infrastruc- ture projects ranging from aircraft fueling to electrical distribution. Originally from Seattle, he loves exploring new places and has been afforded the opportunity to travel by working on projects all over the United States. “I signed up for Project Engage to learn
strategies to encourage new people to join the construction industry. I was especially interested in networking with other construc- tion industry leaders and sharing ideas about leadership, inclusivity, and efficiency in our industry,” he said.
Pfeifer said he didn’t expect to become as
close with his cohort group as quickly as he already has, and he looks forward to building on these burgeoning friendships through Project Engage classes in the coming months. And why did he seek out such an opportu-
nity? “Construction is a fast-paced, high-pres- sure, team-based environment. Leadership development opportunities like Project En- gage allow you to pause and evaluate your leadership strengths/weaknesses,” he said. “Understanding and developing your own leadership style allows you to connect and elevate the team around you.”

Geline Rabaino-Le, Division Manager – Electric Civil, Underground Construction Co. Inc. Geline Rabaino-Le has been with Under- ground Construction Co. for 11 years, cur- rently serving as division manager. “I feel
very fortunate to be part of a great company and a contributor in the construction industry,” she said. Prior to joining Under- ground, she was a design/associate engineer for several Bay Area firms and then a project engineer in the public sector. Rabaino-Le became excited about Project Engage after she did some research on it. “Te 12-month journey is what got me excited the most,” she said. “Leadership growth takes time and investment, so being part of a year-long journey where I can invest in myself, build a healthier mindset, become more self-aware, increase my influence and be part of an empowered focused group was really appealing.” Why does she think leadership development oppor-
tunities are so important to seek out? “It doesn’t happen overnight. It’s a process of growth, change iteration and transformation. Opportunities such as Project Engage allow us to share information and leadership tools…and learn from each other’s stories.” And her take on the program so far? “I’ve enjoyed the
kickoff gathering and look forward to the journey of individual learning, monthly focus group sessions, monthly one-on- one coaching and quarterly team gatherings. Te resources available are helpful and engaging. I know Project Engage will be a transformational journey for me.”
