included an in-person “Tools & Tacos” event, a unique skills development and networking mixer powered by Milwaukee Tools, which drew more than 60 young professionals to Sacramento on April 28, 2022. This same event was held at McCarthy’s offices in Southern California on May 24, with ap- proximately 40 in attendance. A virtual Emerging Leaders Women in Construction networking mixer
on March 7 featured speakers Edgar Martinez (Chair) and Mercy Canul, Southern California AGC Emerging Leaders, and Julie Cantoni, President of the National Association of Women in Construction – Orange County., NAWIC-OC. On May 5, a virtual Lunch & Learn event offered insights into California’s

Ashley Lasiter is a project manager/esti- mator at Granite Construction, where she has worked since the summer 2009 when she was a junior year at the University of California at Davis pursuing her civil engineering degree. As a full-time working professional as well as a mom of two elementary school age children, including one with special needs, Lasiter has forged a strong bond with her Granite coworkers. She said she has made an effort to “sort of break the stereotype and show you can be a full- time working mom in the construction industry, still get that work/life balance, and not feel like you have to pick or choose one or the other.” Lasiter joined the Emerging Leaders
