Schipper Construction Supports Local Nonprofits
Whether it is serving at local food banks, participating in veteran half-marathon runs, or supporting the local arts and trades, Frank Schipper Construction Co. consistently tries to find ways to add value to the community beyond its construction services. Supporting local nonprofit events and fundraisers are top priorities for Frank Schipper Construction Co. and its employees. Over the last 10 years, the company donated well over $1 million dollars to local charities, including over $100,000 in the last year alone. “From a business perspective, giving back to local nonprofit organizations shows we care about our community,” commented Vice President Erwin Ville- gas. nized by nonprofit organizations, we think the public perception of the construction industry is elevated,” Villegas added. “Many of the nonprofit organizations we build for are repeat clients with re- lationships spanning several years. We want them to receive a project that will last many years and that we all can be proud of.” Some of the nonprofit orga- nizations that the company has worked with include Santa Barbara Zoological Gardens, TradArt, the Foodbank of Santa Barbara County, Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History, Santa Barbara Histor- ical Museum, Lobero Teatre and Music Academy of the West, among others. For example, when the company was renovating the Santa Bar- bara Rescue Mission’s existing building, several employees helped serve meals on Tanksgiving Day meal to homeless indi- viduals. During the devastating mudslides in 2018, employees from the company volunteered their labor along with Santa Barbara Bucket Brigade to help dig out a local Spiritual Retreat Center destroyed by the mud and rocks.
