A team from Griffith Company that participated in a past bike and skateboard build event.

Griffith Company’s Long History of Service

Giving back to the communities where its employees live and work has been part of the fabric of Griffith Company throughout its 120-year history. In 2017, the company decided to take its community service efforts to the next level by creating an initiative called “Griffith Company for Community,” or “GC4C.” A committee of employees was tasked with overseeing and champion- ing service efforts in four categories: economic and social empowerment, educational and career advancement, environmental enhancement, and in- frastructure improvement. Te GC4C program has driven employ-

ee participation in a variety of activities. Tis included preparation of meals for residents of local missions, campaigns for breast cancer awareness, a bike/skateboard build for foster kids, beach cleanups and high school career fairs. Tey have also made financial contributions to charitable causes such as Toys for Tots, the American

Cancer Society, the Los Angeles Mission, the Yorba Linda High School women’s basketball team, and the Camp Pendleton Armed Services YMCA. GC4C infrastructure improvement

projects have included parking lot re-pave- ment for an Orange County soup kitchen and Los Angeles area church, baseball field improvements for a youth league, a community garden for an Inland Empire nonprofit and several improvements for the Los Angeles Boys & Girls Club. In its work promoting breast cancer

awareness campaigns, Griffith Company was a leading Orange County fundraiser for two years straight. The company’s high school outreach activities have been robust, entailing participation in several career fairs, chaperoning at construction camps for girls, delivering career presen- tations to classes/cohorts, sponsoring industry awareness events and mentoring groups of students as part of the ACE Mentor Program.

The Griffith Company for Community initiative (GC4C) has driven employee participation in a variety of activities, including preparation of meals for residents of local missions, campaigns for breast cancer awareness, a bike/ skateboard build for foster kids, beach cleanups and high school career fairs to name just a few.

While COVID-19 severely hampered

in-person volunteer activities over the last couple of years, Griffith Company is looking to finish 2022 strong. Tey are planning another bike/board activity in which em- ployees will gather to assemble bicycles and skateboards for donation to foster kids. Plans are also underway to participate in multiple campaigns targeting prostrate and breast cancer awareness as well as mental health and suicide prevention, and company volunteers expect to participate in several high school career awareness activities in the coming months.
