How Contractors Give Back
BY CAROL EATON W
ith Thanksgiving on the horizon and the holiday season now kicking into
high gear, there is an increased focus on charitable giving in communities across the state and nation. In 2021, corporate giving totaled approximately $21.08 bil- lion in the U.S., according to the National Philanthropic Trust, representing a sub- stantial 23.8% increase from 2020. For many companies in the construc- tion sector, giving back to the community
is not just a seasonal activity, but a year- round endeavor. Tey understand that cultivating a corporate culture of social responsibility and providing employees with meaningful volunteer opportunities is a winning business strategy – one that can help engage, attract and retain a tal- ented workforce that is looking for more than just a paycheck. AGC of California is proud to represent
a large number of member companies who have elevated the art of giving. Many
have formed their own independent non- profit philanthropic arms, while others have developed internal programs that leverage the unique skills and talents that their employees bring to the table to support and literally help build up their local communities. California Constructor takes this op-
portunity to spotlight some of the diverse ways that just a few AGC of California member firms give back, not only during the holiday season but all year long.
