AGC of California awarded six individuals a coveted Achievement Awards during the 2024 Installation and Awards Gala, presented by Procore. Te Achievement Awards honor individuals for their outstanding contributions to the con-
struction industry, including to construction education efforts (Construction Education Friend Award) and to safety and health in the industry (Safety Professional of the Year Award).
Aaron Yohnke accepted the Contractor Achievement Award from Priscilla Chavez, PCL Construction.
Henry Nutt III accepted the Specialty Contractor Achievement Award from presenter Erin Volk, AGC of California.
CONTRACTOR ACHIEVEMENT AWARD Aaron Yohnke, President, California Buildings, PCL Construction Aaron Yohnke started out in the construction industry over 25 years ago in his family’s general contracting business. He now holds an executive leadership role at PCL Construction where he oversees a large region with a significant range of projects. His journey through various positions at the company showcases his strategic vision and ability to inspire teams to achieve excellence. At PCL Construction, Yohnke has overseen diverse Cali-
fornia projects, including educational, infrastructure, airport development, sports venue transformations, and community development projects. His leadership is marked by a commit- ment to safety and mental health, exemplified by his role in a mental health awareness initiative in California. Recognized as one of the “Top 20 Professionals under 40” by Engineering News Record magazine in 2019, Yohnke is actively involved with construction associations and charities. He serves on the Los Angeles District Board of Directors as well as the State Board of Directors for AGC of California and supports young professionals in the industry, showcasing his dedication to cultivating future leaders.
SPECIALTY CONTRACTOR ACHIEVEMENT AWARD Henry Nutt III, Preconstruction Executive, Southland Industries Henry Nutt III, a preconstruction executive at Southland Industries, is a respected figure in the construction industry, serving as a sheet metal general superintendent. He’s served on the AGC of California State Board of Directors and as AGC of America’s past chair for the Diversity & Equity Steering Committee. He was instrumental in AGC of California’s Task Force and DE&I Steering Committee. Over his career, Nutt has become a thought leader, author, international speaker, and advocate for the future construction workforce. Nutt’s advocacy extends to industry and workforce develop-
ment, contributing to pre-apprenticeship programs, promoting Lean construction, and providing specialty contractor insights. As Board chair, he promotes better project outcomes nationwide and encourages investment in workforce programs. His book, “Seven Principles: Creating Your Success in the
Construction Industry,” serves as a workforce development model. It is used as a training resource in pre-apprenticeship and readiness programs. Committed to fostering inclusive, effi- cient, and safe work environments, Nutt empowers individuals for successful, sustainable construction careers.
