Otto Construction for “Mayo Hall Renovation and Addition” Mayo Hall was the first permanent building at Cal Maritime, constructed in 1945 as a memorial gymnasium honoring graduates who lost their lives in World War II. Serving as Cal Maritime’s main athletics facility for over 50 years, by 2014 most of the campus’ indoor athletics and recreation activities had moved to a new facility. Tis created the opportunity to reposition, re- purpose, and renovate the beloved and historic structure. Te Mayo Hall Renovation and Addition Project combines new functions,

programming, and architecture with the historic fabric of an existing build- ing - breathing new life into Mayo Hall and creating a new campus center for student life and services. Te strong spirit of collaboration between the Otto Construction + WRNS


Studio design-build team, Cal Maritime, CSU Chancellor’s Office, regulatory agencies, and the project’s trade partners was key to the successful comple- tion of this unique project. Key trade partners were involved early on to help identify and procure long lead materials and help solve numerous logistical challenges. Also selected as finalists in this category were: McCarthy Building Com-


panies for “Sharp Prebys Innovation and Education Center” and Stronghold Engineering Inc. for “Rocklin Campus Site Infrastructure Utilities Upgrade.”


Otto Construction received a Constructor award for Mayo Hall Renovation and Addition.
