MOVING MOUNTAINS
Shining A Spotlight on Construction Excellence
BY PETER TATEISHI, CEO A
GC of California is proud to shine a spotlight on the con- struction industry – an industry
that is so often undervalued by the general public. But the truth is, we as an industry are the cornerstone of our state. The projects we build sustain our way of life for every Californian, from infrastructure projects like roads, bridges, airports, dams, and water to hospitals, schools, office buildings, and grocery stores. It is no small feat to do what we do, which is why the AGC of California Achievement and Constructor Awards are incredibly important to our industry. To recognize the best of the best within our leaders and our projects gives us a platform to recognize and celebrate who we are and what we accomplish. It reminds the world that we matter, and it helps tell our story. We congratulate all our finalists and award winners at the 2024 Installation and Awards Gala and encourage each of you to consider applying for an award for next year’s event. Beyond recognizing noble and worthy individuals and projects, we also had the opportunity to recognize the outgoing and incoming leaders of your association. It has truly been an amazing two years under the leadership of Dina Kimble of Royal Electric as President of AGC of California. Her tenacity and passion for our industry helped AGC of California push forward on major initiatives and changes to support a better future for the construction industry. She not only showed up to represent this association and this industry, but she elevated the conversations our industry is having both

here in California and nationally. We are all incredibly proud and grateful for her service as both our first female and specialty contractor to hold the office of President of AGC of California. Her actions have helped our industry realize our fullest potential and she has put us on a path to success as both an association and an industry. As Dina will tell you, the presidency is a team effort. And we are excited to welcome Steve Rule of Turner Construc- tion as our 2024 President. Serving this association as an officer for over five years, Steve has been in every meeting lending a thoughtful voice to the many conversations that have been driving this association forward. His understanding of the importance of this industry on our state and his passion to build a stronger construction industry that is more sus- tainable and resilient will be his legacy. We are eager to continue under Steve’s leadership to create more opportunities to build and strengthen the state of Cali- fornia through the construction industry. Again, I would like to congratulate our
awardees, our leaders of our association, and thank each of you for being part of AGC of California. Your dedication to the construction industry fuels our ability to work side by side with you as we build a better future for our members, our companies, and our state.
