quality of preparation the path to
The ability to apply learning and demonstrate competence in nursing requires not only rigorous application of technique, but also critical thinking skills to adjust and apply learning in clinical situations. Goldfarb will put this into practice within a rigorous, competency- based curriculum. This will include critical, timely and innovative programs and content. And just as the content will flex to incorporate new scientific information, technology or clinical or market needs, teaching techniques and models will also adapt to enable students to learn effectively and thrive.
Goldfarb graduates will be distinctively capable clinicians and leaders. The Goldfarb community will include exceptional, diverse, high-potential, resilient students, faculty and staff. Recruitment will be matched by coordinated financial, academic and mental health support to create a vibrant, diverse, energizing environment for student, faculty and staff achievement.
Nursing is seeing a shift in the expectations of advanced degrees to a focus on doctoral level programs (DNP and PhD). Advanced practice nurse (nurse anesthetist, nurse practitioner) degrees increasingly are DNP-level degrees. Goldfarb will strengthen and expand graduate programs to meet this need. And recognizing the importance of lifelong learning and of multiple paths to meet student and market needs, Goldfarb is establishing certification and continuing education options to provide innovative ways to enable learning outside the degree programs—but ideally creating a path to a degree.
These changes require a great deal of input and research. Goldfarb will invite and contribute to nursing and education expertise.
