TRANSFORMING OUR UNDERSTANDING OF CONFIRMATION Christina Condyles

This session will give participants a renewed understanding of the theology of confirmation, the sacrament's role in the person's life, and the sacrament's place in the life of the Church. It will invite them to reflect on their own confirmation and how the Spirit is still at work in their lives as it nurtures their gifts to be used for the glory of God. To accomplish these things, the session will use the texts of the Order of Confirmation, including its introduction and prayers.

WE SHOULD GLORY IN THE CROSS: PREPARING THE BILINGUAL TRIDUUM WITH STYLE AND GRACE, PART 2 Tony Alonso

In response to the vibrant and growing Catholic Latino population in the United States, Roman Catholic parishes have increasingly celebrated the liturgies of the Paschal Triduum bilingually. Pastoral musicians have often been on the frontlines of this work, preparing the liturgies of the Three Days in ways that bridge linguistic, cultural, and musical differences. This two-part session will explore the challenges and opportunities of the bilingual Triduum with a special focus on how to honor difference while binding the Church as one at these liturgies at the heart of the liturgical year. The first part will explore the liturgies of Holy Thursday and Good Friday; the second will explore the Easter Vigil.

INTERCULTURAL COMPETENCE IN A TIME OF CULTURE WARS Ricky Manalo

Divisive lines continue to be made in our country, in our dioceses, parishes, and sometimes even between musical ensembles or choirs within one parish: Democrats vs. Republicans; traditionalists vs. progressives; one liturgical musical style over another, etc. The so-called "culture wars" remain alive as Church leaders are "tested by fire" and search for pastoral tools for promoting harmony, renewal, and transformation. This presentation provides a primer on the culture wars and suggestions on how Church leaders can pastorally and appropriately respond.

MEGA 3d PSALMODY SPIRITUALITY

Michael Joncas Explore how the psalms we pray give insight into the seasons and feasts we celebrate. In addition to examining the spirituality of psalms throughout the liturgical year, this session will also introduce some of the form-critical categories of psalmody, giving deeper insight and meaning to the history and reality of these sacred texts.
