circle at church too, to quickly pass information about a death or a new baby, etc. in the congregation. When I attended First Gastonia, there was a big cluster of churches in our area (Pisgah, Linden, Crowders Creek, Boyce Memorial, Providence, Bessemer City, and one in Mount Holly). Occasionally, when we had booked a well-known speaker, we would invite the ladies from our neighboring churches to the event at our church. Presbyterial meetings are also a way of clustering churches together. Bringing in other related groups provides an opportunity for fellowship and an exchange of ideas of what other churches are doing. It is a good time of communication! a lack of communication from the ARPWM Board to the Presbyterial level to the local women’s ministries. Jana Evans, a member of Second Presbyterial, looked at the geography of the churches in that presbytery and organized them into clus- ters. A meeting was held for all ladies in the churches of that cluster, where we talked about how the lack of communica- tion had caused them to lose their sense of belonging to the denominational community and how it could be restored. As a result, Second Presbyterial now has a board with a President, Vice President, Past President, Secretary, Treasurer, and a representative from each cluster. The ARPWM Board meets several times a year and gives information to the Presbyterial Presidents who pass the info along to the cluster reps who send it to the WM leaders in their church clusters who pass it to the circle leaders who send it out to their members. Why have I provided you with a history lesson? Sometimes, in a Presbytery that covers more than one state, commu- nication is a problem. Perhaps the cluster model might provide better communication to make sure that all ladies get info that they need and to make all feel like they are an integral part of the Presbyterial. Our Florida and Grace Presbyterials do not currently have a representative on the ARPWM Board. Maybe a cluster model would help them stay in communi- cation with what is happening in Women’s Ministry now? We can all do more if we are all doing it together!

efore cellphones and computers, there was a procedure called, “The Telephone Tree.” If we were having a “work from home day” because of a local power failure, the principal would call John, Susie, and Jane who had two or three people that they were to call, etc. until all personnel had been contacted. I remember that we used it for our
