My family has visited there often as well. This year, 2022, is Bonclarken’s 100th year, and along with lots of regular events, they have added even more to celebrate!

In the late 60s, I had the privilege to serve as a counselor at Camp Bonclarken, and since then, I have enjoyed watching some of my grandchildren perform at the Music and Drama Camp heard about their adventures during a week at Camp Bonclarken, saw them perform after a week at the Music Conference, and heard how happy they were that they had served as counselors at Camp Joy. Bonclarken has many opportunities for chil- dren, youth, and adults (Workweek, Music Conference, and Family Bible Conference)! During the week of Synod, there is a Brunch for Missionary and Church Planter’s Wives (June 8), and an event called Oasis for any woman attending Synod. And, during the Family Bible Conference, on Wednesday, July

GOING TO . . . BONCLARKEN! F

27th, there is an event called the Silver Tea, which is for anyone attending the Family Bible Conference. This year, the ladies from Catawba Presbyterial are hosting the event. There will be good food, lots of fellowship, and a donation bucket for money to help  the only building on the Bonclarken grounds owned solely by the ARP Women.        on May 28th from 10 – 4. Tickets for the tour and lunch may be pre- ordered. On July 2nd, there will be lunch on the Front Lawn at 12 (tickets may be purchased) and a Celebration Worship Service at 2. There is a Youth Art Competition open to students in grades 3 – 12 and a Bonclarken 100th Anniversary Memory Project where you can share your memories of Bonclarken over the years. Check the web- site www.bonclarken.org/100th-aniversary. The ARPWM Board has chosen Bonclarken as the subject of their calendar for 2023, which will be available during and after Synod. We plan to feature several of the buildings on campus with a brief memory associated with a particular building. For example, many years ago, I was a volunteer youth advi- sor at First Gastonia. We had come to Bonclarken for a youth retreat, and some of the youth had asked if they could in- vite some of their friends from other churches to have a shaving cream war at Carroll Cottage that night. I told them the rules, including no shaving cream coming on the screened-in porch where I will be watching! They followed the rules but had a great time anyway on the lawn out- side of the porch. I was surprised at how prepared they were (most had brought shaving cream in their suitcases!)
