WOMEN’S MINISTRIES: STARTING FRESH

By Vicki Marsh R

ecently, I moved from Gastonia, NC to Greenville, SC to be closer to my family (and to avoid the constant construction on I-85 that I ex- perienced every time I wanted to visit them). After the move, I was

faced with finding many new things, including a church family. Greenville ARP has become my new church home and I enjoy the friends that I have made and being in a circle there. I soon learned, however, that the Women’s Ministries board at GARP

was starting a revitalization program—like me, they were starting fresh! In a way, it is the same as when you start a new year in a circle or on a board. You may want to do some of the same things the same way that you have always done them, but you have an opportunity to make changes and to serve the ladies at your church or Presbyterial in new ways. As you look at your group, you may find a need for additional officers in your group or find that there is no longer a need for some of the offices that you have had to fill. Since every circle at my church has a treasurer, we have eliminated that office on the board and have our money in a separate account through the church financial secretary. Each circle keeps its own “Sunshine Fund” for immediate needs of the circle. We are adding two new positions of “members-at-large” who will represent the interest of those ladies who are not in a circle but do attend Bible studies. Hopefully, your group leader keeps a notebook which can help you to

remember good projects that you have done and when those things should be done. Projects might include donating candy for a Trunk or Treat, help- ing to support a missionary with prayers and financial help, collecting money for Camp Joy scholarships, having a Diaper Shower for a local Cri- sis Pregnancy group, or sponsoring a dinner at church with donations to go to Youth Camps or Mission Projects. Just like each new morning is an opportunity to do things better or dawnklewis@gmail.com

change things that are not working as they should, a new year in Women’s Ministry should work the same way. Use this time to “revitalize” your group! Make things better! And, remember that whether you are in a circle or not, if you are a woman and you attend an ARP church—you are a part of Women’s Ministry! Have a great year!?
