I’m living. They’re no use when I’m dead! So, while I’m livin’, I’m going to keep on doing what I love and that’s make music, see the world and entertain my fans. And “The Wheels of Laredo” was written by Brandi Carlile, Tim Hanseroth and Phil Hanseroth. They nailed it - such a beau- tiful song they wrote just for me.
Tanya Tucker, I don’t believe in regrets, we only learn or grow from them. Is there one thing you wish you could do, or still might?
I have new dreams every day. I’d love to have a cafe’ where dogs are available for adoption when people come in to get their coffee - op- erated by a shelter or rescue group. I wish I could have a bigger impact on animal abuse - that just makes me sick, whether it’s horses, dogs, zoo animals or anything living. They’re all God’s creatures and should be treated with respect.
How is your family? How are the hors- es? In the video for “The Wheels of Lar- edo”, the horses running is a beautiful scene. Where was the video filmed for “The Wheels of Laredo”? Are those your horses?
My kids are the highlights of my life. Grayson, Presley and Layla are my everything and they’re all on their own mu- sical journey and pursuing career paths in this industry. We filmed the video at my barn south of Nashville with my horses. We had a lot of fun on that shoot, but it was so hot out that day!
Let’s talk tequila, with salt and lime. Tell our readers about launching Casa Salvage Tequila, how is the taste/flavoring? Did you get a change to ride that beautiful Friesian?
Cosa Salvaje translates as “wild thing” in Spanish. I used to be a wild thing, so now I just drink a wild thing! I truly love the taste of Cosa Salvaje and certainly wouldn’t be partnering with it if it didn’t pass my taste test. All my friends did a blind test with different tequilas and Cosa Salvaje was the hands down winner, so I know everyone else is going to enjoy it as much as I do. What’s even more important to me is how the agave and distilling process is environmentally conscious, so we’re taking care of our planet too.
That majestic Friesian horse on the sandy white beach in Malibu, California was a dream come true photo shoot. I’ve always wanted to do that and I’m glad we did. The album cover for While I’m Livin’ is from that photo shoot too.
What is on the horizon for Tanya Tucker? Tours? Favorite Rodeo? Who would you like to record with next?
We’ve got a lot of dates on the books this fall and into next year, so we’re keeping really busy. I love all the rodeos! And while it’s not a
rodeo, one of my favorite events during the year is the Careity Celeb- rity Cutting championship in Ft. Worth that benefits cancer research and support services. I’ve dyed my hair pink for a close friend of mine fighting cancer and I’m keeping it pink until she’s in the clear!
