her and she didn’t want to do much.
After countless vet visits and time off, it was decided that she had pneumonia. She ended up getting a month off, staying on stall rest, and getting meds through a catheter every 6 hours. Now we were re- ally behind... but as soon as she was healthy again, we started training right away. It almost seemed impossible to catch up and be competition ready at this point. We had a couple people doubting us, trying to bring us down, bullying us... but I had Eevee and she had me. She was a really special mare... that competition started with 70+ competitors, and Ee- vee made the Top 10, and came in 6th overall. It was a super emotional weekend, and she was just perfect, I couldn’t have asked for her to try any harder! Then the hard part came... the auction. I had no clue who was going to bring her home. I was terrified... then when I got out of the arena one of my best friends ran over to me and told me she won her. She was going up to Rhode Island to live with my friend! Eevee‘s story is one that I’ll never forget.
What age did you start training Mustangs? What is TIP training? Any advice to someone that is newly adopting a Mustang?
I began training mustangs when I just turned 15. I started through a youth mustang challenge, someone shared a flyer for it to my Face- book timeline, and now my whole life revolves around mustangs! TIP stands for ‘Trainer Incentive Program’. It’s a great program for first time mustang owners to adopt from! Essentially, the mustangs get trained to have a good handle on some basic requirements, and are then available for adoption for the same $125 it would be to adopt a completely feral one. It’s a great program! For more information on the program and other mustang programs, check out the Mustang Heritage Foundation at

Are there other competitions that you’re competing in? Describe the other competitions?
I frequently do small shows with my personal mustang, but I’m begin- ning to show him as rated USEF/USHJA shows in the jumpers, as well as rated USDA shows. We’re hoping to start eventing soon too. My per- sonal mustang, Lynx, was my 2016 Youth Mustang Makeover draw. He does everything with me now... everything from helping me start young warmbloods to performing liberty and tricks to represent the American Mustang! I just applied for the Texas Players Choice Mustang Makeover too... the competition for that is in January of 2020.
