If you would like to submit any names and suggestions for the annual KVMA awards, please send them to the KVMA office at
info@kvma.org and they will be forwarded to the KVMA Nominating Committee for consideration.
Te LaBore Award: Tis honorary award is considered the top award of the KVMA to be conveyed on such worthy individuals for their most supreme and most outstanding contributions to the KVMA over a term of years. Tis honorary award is to be bestowed at the discretion of the Executive Board of the Asso- ciation only at such times and on such occasions as they deem fitting. It is not necessarily an annual award but when appropriate it can be given in successive years.
Veterinarian of the Year Award- (Awarded Annually): Prior to the KVMA Annual meeting, the nominat- ing committee will select a recipient for the Veterinarian of the Year Award. Suggested guidelines: • Shall be a member of the KVMA and AVMA for at least five (5) years. • Shall have received outstanding recognition either outside or within the veterinary profession or both and be held in high esteem by his or her peers.
Distinguished Service Award - (Awarded annually): Prior to the KVMA Annual meeting, the nominat- ing committee will select a recipient for the Distinguished Service Award. Suggested guidelines: • Shall be a member of the KVMA and AVMA for at least twelve (12) years or longer. • Shall be a conscientious, highly dedicated contributing member to the KVMA or AVMA.
KVMA Animal Hall of Fame Award (Form is included in this issue on pgs. 17-18.) Objectives: To honor and recognize exceptional animals To allow KVMA members to share in their patients’ outstanding accomplishments by serving as nominators. To share with owners in the joy of the human-animal bond by recognizing outstanding pets. Requirements • Nominee must be an animal that has exhibited an act of bravery or performs a service to an individual or community, or exemplifies the affection, loyalty, and value of the human-animal bond.
• A KVMA member must make nominations for the award. Award Recipient • A committee of the KVMA will determine recipient of the award. • Te award will be presented during the 2023 KVMA Mid-America Veterinary Conference. • Plaque and monetary award will be presented. • Animal(s) and their owner(s) should be available to receive the award and participate in the public recognition.
• Please contact the KVMA Office or see the Hall of Fame application form in this issue. Application must be returned by August 30th, 2023 for consideration.
