KVMA EXECUTIVE BOARD REPORTS KVMA Executive Board Meeting • May 11, 2023 • KDA Office
1. Meeting called to order by Dr. Dean-Hines. 2. Attendees of meeting: Drs. Williams, Redmon, Chick, Shoulders, Rodgers, Tussey, Cassone, Mirus, Dean-Hines, Smith, Laster and McGlasson. Ms. Hamelback and Swim. Guests: Drs. Bartley, Arm- strong and Skelton
3. Conflict of interest: none acknowledged. 4. Minutes of February meeting reviewed. Motion to approve by Dr. Rodgers. Second by Dr. Tussey. Motion passes.
5. Financial reports presented by Dr. Mirus. KVMA transferred savings into an investment account. In- vestment accounts hold more than 2x our annual budget. KVMA remains in good financial standing.
6. New membership applications reviewed. Motion made by Dr. Redmon to accept. Second motion made by Dr. Rodgers. Motion carries.
7. Dr. Redmon and Dr. Dean-Hines presented updates for 2023 MAVC. 8. Dr. Dean-Hines presented a review of the Auburn Advisory Council meeting that took place in April. 9. Dr. Dean-Hines reviewed recent Commencement cer- emonies of Tuskegee and Au- burn. Discussed formulating communication to recent Ky graduates to determine where they are going after gradua- tion and why.
10. Dr. Rodgers discussed LMU and Auburn Student Chap- ters. Reviewed context of meeting that took place in April that included 20 AUCVM students and 2 LMU students.
11. Discussion of Dr. Phil Prater retirement scholarship by Ms. Hamelback. Motion made by Dr. Redmon to make an initial contribution of $2500. Pledge an additional match by dollar amount up to a total of $2500 by KVMA members. Second motion made by Dr. King. Motion passes.
12. Review of KVMA Lobbyist contract. Motion made by Dr. Tussey to renew 1-year contract of current Lobbyist. Seconded by Dr. Williams. Motion passes.
13. Discussion of next steps of Joint KBVE/KVMA meetings. Schedule meetings with plan to have completed by June 2024.
14. Discussion of remaining funds from Eastern KY flood.
