• Licensed Veterinary Technicians (LVTs) (KRS 321.190, KRS 321.441) • Strong title protections now exist for LVTs:: KRS 321.190(1)(b) states “A person shall not use the designation “veterinary technician,” “licensed veterinary technician,” or any other designation indi- cating licensure status, including abbreviations, or hold that person out as a veterinary technician unless licensed for that profession.”


• Allowable duties and supervisory requirements shall be defined in administrative regulation filed on July 12 with LRC; check the board’s website on the Practice Act page for the opportunity to provide public comment through September 30.


• LVTs shall not: • Perform surgery, • Diagnose, • Prognose, or • Prescribe


• Animal Control Agency (ACA) and Animal Euthanasia Specialist (AES) Requirements (KRS 321.207, KRS 321.208)


• AES must be employed by a KBVE-certified ACA • An AES may not provide animal euthanasia services for publicly owned animals, nor for personal gain.
