KVMA ANNOUNCES 2022 SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENTS
The KVMA is proud to announce the three recipients of the 2022 KVMA Scholarships.
KYLE CASSON (2021-2022) Kyle Casson, Scholarship recipient.
“My name is Kyle Casson. I am currently a second-year student at Auburn Uni- versity College of Veterinary Medicine. I have been around veterinary medicine my entire life. My father is a 1991 graduate of AUCVM. Being able to watch and work with him has greatly shaped my career goals and has been very special for the two of us. After graduation, I plan to work underneath him and even- tually take over our practice in Northern Kentucky. My professional interests include general small animal medicine and surgery while continuing to grow a private practice. I hope to be able to positively impact the pets and people of Independence, Kentucky, and the surrounding area. My time at Auburn has been incredible. Having been in school for what feels like forever, it is great to finally learn about things that are not only relevant to my future but are subjects I am genuinely interested in. Seeing the changes in veterinary medicine since my father graduated in 1991 only makes me optimistic for what advances we
are going to see during my career. Veterinary school has also allowed me to meet people who I am going to be friends with the rest of my life. Whether it be studying for a big exam or playing a round of golf, it is great to be with people who are going to make a difference in this profession.
I am extremely grateful for receiving the KVMA scholarship. As you know, the cost of veterinary school is expensive, and this award helps to alleviate some of that financial burden. I am excited to continue my veterinary education at Auburn and even more excited to begin my career in this wonderful profession. War Eagle!”
ELLIE DAY (2021-2022)
“I grew up in Florence, Kentucky and received my bachelor’s de- gree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Kentucky. I am currently on my clinical rotations at Auburn University and plan to return to Northern Kentucky after graduation to pursue a career in small animal general practice or shelter med- icine. During my time at vet school, I have surprisingly not rescued any more pets but have fostered several and volunteered at the local humane society. I love going to local antique/thrift stores to look for more vinyl records for my collection. My chi- huahua mix and I also enjoy exploring new parks and cities around Auburn, especially during nice weather. I look forward to returning to Kentucky with her and continuing to explore!”
