Measures on the November ballot
include efforts to raise the minimum wage, expand local government authority to enact rent control, Medi-Cal funding reforms, and amendments to the crimi- nal justice system, among other things. Tis election cycle, AGC of California
took support positions on three mea- sures that were placed on the ballot by the California Legislature. Specifically, • Proposition 2 -Authorizes $10 billion in general obligation bonds for repair, upgrade, and construction of facilities at K–12 public schools (including charter schools), community colleges, and career technical education programs, including for improvement of health and safety conditions and classroom upgrades.
• Proposition 4 -Authorizes $10 billion in general obligation bonds for water, wildfire prevention, and protection of
C
communities and lands.
• Proposition 5 - Allows approval of local infrastructure and housing bonds for low- and middle-income Californians with 55% vote. It is essential for voters — and espe-
cially those in the construction industry — to support these initiatives. If passed, these propositions offer the state an opportunity to further invest in critical infrastructure for our schools and envi- ronment. Tis election cycle provides us all the ability to elect leaders who will shape the policies that affect our lives, communities, and industry. So, get out and vote!
