Blois Construction’s Jose Castellanos Honored

S

ince joining Blois Construction as an apprentice 25 years ago, Jose Castellanos has grown into one of the company’s key project superintendents with a proactive

approach that ensures that safety is not just a set of protocols but a deeply ingrained part of every project he oversees. Now senior field superintendent for Blois, Castellanos

was recognized with the 2024 AGC of California Construc- tion Safety Excellence Award for Individual Safety Effort of a Project Superintendent. Troughout his tenure, Castellanos has embodied the

company’s commitment to safety and worked tirelessly to instill these values in others. He has brought up two of his leadmen to share the same strong values in safety, both of whom have since grown into strong leaders and stepped into superintendent roles themselves. By mentoring these indi- viduals, he has ensured that the legacy of safety excellence continues beyond his direct influence. He actively involves every member of the team, from subcontractors to the project management staff, in his safety initiatives. Castellanos has implemented several effective safety prac-

tices that have significantly reduced the number of incidents on his job sites. Tese practices include comprehensive safety audits, stringent personal protective equipment enforcement, and innovative hazard communication strategies. Known for his meticulous attention to detail and his ability to fore- see potential safety hazards before they become issues, his practices have set a benchmark for safety excellence at Blois. His commitment to safety has not gone unnoticed at

Blois or in the industry. Castellanos has been recognized multiple times by company leadership for his exceptional safety record and was awarded the “Safety Champion of the Year” by the local construction association. His sites have consistently received the highest safety ratings, a testament to his effectiveness as a safety leader.
