location and identification of onsite utilities, as two distinct utility ownerships were covering the project site. Record drawings of on-site utilities were unreliable and outdated. Te contractor brought in a utility mapping agency to scan and identify existing conduits or structures. Once mapping services were completed, Granite worked with BNSF and Signal teams in coordination with various phases of as- built documents to determine which systems were to be abandoned in place, removed or avoided.


• Addressing shifting traffic patterns. Due to tub crossing replacement, rail alignment, new storm drains and duct bank crossings, there was a continual shift in traffic flow on this project. To minimize congestion and confusion while establishing a safe work zone, Granite utilized aerial mapping of the facility to pre-plan and sequence traffic shifts. Trough intricate planning with collective insight and review from stakeholders, the team accomplished seamless shifts in day- to-day traffic patterns throughout the course of the project.
