Tristan and Trishelle Porter have been pretty much in- separable for the past two decades. Born a little over a year apart, Tristan (the older of the two) and Trishelle (one year younger) do just about everything as a pair, in- cluding playing in the backcourt together for most of the past seven years as guards on the basketball teams at California High School, Westminster College, and this past season at Central Methodist University. “We’ve always been close, and we’ve done just about everything together,” Trishelle said. On the court, their familiarity with each other has led to a special feel for each other’s skill sets.
“Our on-court chemistry is unmatched. As the point guard and shoot- ing guard, we always seem to know where the other one is,” Tristan said. But doesn’t the friction of a sibling rivalry get in the way at times? Just the opposite, said Trishelle.
“On the court, we push each other to improve, always partnering up during practice and spending countless hours working out to- gether. Having each other to rebound and get shots up has been one of the best things,” said Trishelle. “We rarely argue while playing. We we play together, we instinctively know each other’s strengths—it’s

ther of them really planned on. Tristan started her college career as a freshman at Columbia College, but a coaching change there and a strong desire to reunite with her younger sister led her to join Trishelle at Westminster when Trishelle committed there. Then, after two years with the Blue Jays, something told both of them it was time for another change. Last summer, before the start of “We knew Coach Yung had recently taken the head coaching job at CMU, and we had always liked his coaching style from watching him coach in high school. So we reached out to see if he was interested in having us join the program,” Trishelle said. “After multiple conver- sations, we scheduled a visit, and as soon as we arrived, we knew this was the right place for us. We never directly planned to transfer to the same school—it just happened that way. Everything just fell into place, and it couldn’t have worked out any better.” With Tristan now graduating, Trishelle will be the only Porter on the Eagles’ roster next year. This transition has caused both sisters Trishelle vividly remembered seeing Tristan make it to the Final Four and playing in the state championship game as a freshman at California. “She was the leading scorer and played extremely well on such a big stage. Going to the Final Four was something we both dreamed of, but it was special getting to see her accomplish that,” Trishelle exciting getting to cheer her on from the stands.”
