expansion of pharmacists’ vaccine authority in 2023, as well as taken steps towards more sustainable business models. Over the last year, we have built signifi cant momentum towards additional legislation that would continue to expand pharmacy service opportunities in the state of Missouri, and we are in a strong position this year to move additional PBM legislation forward with the help of all of you. If you have considered getting active in the
Association or advocacy eff orts but have held back for one reason or another, this is your year! If you used to be active in these eff orts, but life has prevented you from staying involved, we would love to have you back! We need the support and help of the MPA membership to move these eff orts over the fi nish line. T ere are numerous ways to get involved, including serving on committees, donating to the Political Action Committee, attending Legislative Day, and responding to MPA Action Alerts. Looking ahead, the future of the profession will be shaped by the actions we take today. As MPA President, I am committed to working with each of you to strengthen our identity and amplify our voices to ensure that we are recognized as crucial members of the healthcare team. Lastly, anyone who knows me can tell you
that my family is a Disney family. We love Disney movies, Disney World, Disney songs- you get the point! When I came across this quote from one of my kids’ favorite movies, T e Incredibles, I couldn’t help including it here. Elastigirl, the matriarch of the featured superhero family, says it best when she says, “Your identity is your most precious possession. Protect it.” T ank you again for the opportunity to serve as your President. I look forward to the coming year and am grateful for the opportunity to help protect this wonderful professional identity we all share.
“The identity of pharmacy professionals is and always has been rooted in the
unwavering commitment to health and wellness.
Pharmacy teams are not just dispensers of medications.
They are educators, caregivers, advocates, and providers. We hear it time and time again that pharmacists are the
most accessible healthcare professionals.”
- Kendall Guthrie, PharmD, BCACP, MPA President
