Excellence in Innovation Award


Catherine Gilmore T e 2024 UHSP Faculty Member of the


Year Award was presented to Catherine Gilmore. T is award is presented annually to one faculty member at the University of Missouri – Kansas City, School of Pharmacy, and to one faculty member at the St. Louis College of Pharmacy at University of Health Sciences & Pharmacy in St. Louis for their contributions to pharmacy practice. Catherine Gilmore received her Doctor


of Pharmacy degree from SIUE School of Pharmacy in 2020. She is currently an Assistant Professor in the department of Pharmacy Practice at St. Louis College of Pharmacy. In addition to teaching in her role at STLCOP, she is currently developing a new asynchronous technician training program and acts an advisor for the Pre-Pharmacy Club, Missouri Pharmacy Association Student Chapter, and American Pharmacists Association Academy of Student Pharmacists. She is a board-certifi ed pharmacist in ambulatory care and has clinical responsibilities at Beverly Hills Pharmacy, leading the charge for the expansion of clinical services in the community setting and navigating provider and community partnerships.


Mark Sawkin T e 2024 UMKC Faculty Member of the


Year Award was presented to Mark Sawkin. T is award is presented annually to one faculty member at the University of Missouri – Kansas City School of Pharmacy and to one faculty member at the St. Louis College of Pharmacy at the University of Health Sciences & Pharmacy in St. Louis for their contributions to pharmacy practice. Dr. Mark T. Sawkin is a Clinical Professor


within the Division of Pharmacy Practice and Administration at the UMKC School of Pharmacy. As an HIV credentialed pharmacist and ambulatory care practitioner, Dr. Sawkin manages medication therapy for a variety of chronic diseases. He recently transitioned from working at the KC CARE Health Center to the endocrinology department at the Kansas City Veterans Aff airs Medical Center. In the classroom, Dr. Sawkin is an instructor within the Pathophysiology and Pharmacotherapy courses and coordinates the Patient-Centered Care course in which he teaches about communication fundamentals, cultural competence, and communication with special populations.


Jason Wang T e Excellence in Innovation Award was


presented to Jason Wang. To be eligible to be nominated for this award, a pharmacist must have demonstrated a rare, unique, and/or innovative style of pharmacy practice resulting in improved patient care. Jason Wang graduated from St. Louis


College of Pharmacy in 2011 and has ownership in the Medicine Shoppe in Af on, MO, Medicine Shoppe in Montgomery City, MO, Medicine Shoppe in Pevely, MO, and Winkelmann Drug in St. Louis, MO. He is also a licensed insurance agent and owns Best Insurance Agents, LLC. Wang and his team specialize in


compounding medications, medication therapy management, immunizations, free delivery, research studies, and patient adherence packaging for outpatient and long- term care patients. Wang received the St. Louis College of


Pharmacy Distinguished Alumni Award for Dedicated Service to the Community, the Missouri Pharmacy Association Distinguished Young Pharmacist Award, the Medicine Shoppe International Professional Achievement Award, was a Pharmacy Times Next-Generation Pharmacist Entrepreneur Award Finalist, and was inducted in the Mehlville School District Alumni Hall of Fame.
