congregations that moved entirely from Kentucky to Ohio to leave slavery behind. In 1842, the old Presbytery of Kentucky, which was part of the Synod of the West, was transferred from the North ern branch of the ARP Church to the Synod of the South. The Synod of the South later reclaimed the name “The General Synod of the ARP Church.” ARP families also continued west to open new lands for settlement. This resulted in multiple preaching stations in Missouri. One of those preaching stations became the Mount Zion Church of today, but it was not alone in the early days, with preaching stations in at least three counties in the area north and west of St. Louis.
