A MOMENT FOR MISSIONS (Marching into Missions)
Mark 16:15 “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.” By Robin Young Williams, Missions & Outreach Chair T
- ciples and as we see in Matthew’s account, there was no hesitation on Andrew’s part; he “immediately” followed
bring him to Jesus. That is what we are called to do in today’s world – be a disciple of Christ, and bring people to Jesus. Andrew was a great example of how we should “March into Missions” right where the Lord has planted us. The Lord commands us to spread the Good News wherever we are!
THREE TYPES OF MISSIONS: “GLOBALLY” – Mark 16:15 “And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.” - est memories growing up were from the time I spent in Rio Verde, Mexico with my family and the Brunsons in the “Big and to this day I try to stay involved with world missions in a variety of ways. The World Witness Fellowship Dinner that was held in Charlotte, NC this past October was one way to get involved with missions on a global level. Alex Petitt, Ali Mitchell, and Frank Van Dalen talked about all the different ways the gospel is being shared throughout many parts of the world. A short video of many of the different World Witness mis- sionaries was shared with each one speaking in the language from the country where they live. GOD IS AT WORK! “LOCALLY” – Mark 12:30-31 “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength. The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no commandment greater than these.”
The “Gather and Grow” for the Catawba Women’s Presbyterial was held at Edgemoor ARP this past October. An of- fering was taken up to help victims of Hurricane Helene. This offering was an act to show love and help our neighbors in surrounding areas that were affected by that tragic hurricane. Many of the churches in our denomination take up offerings, collect canned goods, distribute necessary items, help the
needy, house the homeless, offer Bible studies, and so much more. This is showing the love of Christ in a tangible way on a local level. GOD IS AT WORK! “GLOCALLY” – Leviticus 19:33-34 “Suppose an outsider lives with you in your land. Then do not treat him badly.
Treat him as if he were one of your own people. Love him as you love yourself.” Being the executive director of Life Builders ESL Ministry- we have been referred to as a “glocal” ministry, in that we serve locally on a global level. Our mission statement is “To minister Christ’s love through teaching English and working doorstep! It is such a rewarding experience to reach out to foreigners in our land and teach them our language, connect them to our community, and ultimately point them to Christ. I so appreciate the ARP Churches in our community that are involved with Life Builders. Ebenezer ARP hosts an ESL class here in Rock Hill, SC. There are volunteer teachers from Neely’s Creek ARP that help on a weekly basis, along with First ARP Church, Lancaster, SC. This is one example of how to be involved glocally right in your own community. GOD IS AT WORK! CHALLENGE: Wherever we are, and whatever we do, we need to make a difference! Let us be “mission-minded.” I love what my father, the Reverend Dr. Young (pastor at Brookside ARP in Boone, NC) is always saying “Each One, Reach One.” What a great motto in life! Let us be an “Andrew” and introduce others to the “Hero of Life” – Our Lord! We need to be the salt and light in this dark world, and understand the “gravity of eternity!” We have a chance to lead others to Christ! Let us always keep in mind that Heaven is for real, and we need to get our sight there! As one quote says “Let us not be so earthly minded that we do no heavenly good.”
Romans 10:13-14 “For everyone who calls on the name of the
Lord will be saved. But how can they believe in him if they have never heard about him? And how can they hear about him unless someone tells them?”
