In this issue of IR Update, we profile Daniel N. Leib, President and Chief Executive Officer of Donnelley Financial Solutions (DFIN) since DFIN became an independent public company in 2016. He has significant management experience, including strategy,
mergers and acquisitions, treasury, investor relations, operations and international. Before DFIN became an independent public company, Leib was with a predecessor company, RR Donnelley, since 2004. His roles at RR Donnelley included Chief Financial Officer and
Executive Vice President from 2011 until the spinoff. Prior to that, Leib held various positions of increasing responsibility including Group Chief Financial Officer; Senior Vice President of Finance, Mergers & Acquisitions; Treasurer; and Vice President of Investor Relations. Prior to RR Donnelley, Leib was with Interpublic Group of Companies, Dun & Bradstreet, Sears and Andersen Consulting. Leib serves as an Independent Trustee of William Blair Mutual

IRU: What is the most meaningful or memorable experience you’ve had in your career and why? Leib:Navigating DFIN’s transformation, beginning with its spinoff from RR Donnelley, was incredibly meaningful. Te spinoff enabled us to invest in the company to build our software and tech-enabled offerings and transform our underlying operating model. With DFIN, we knew there was an opportu- nity to leverage the strong foundation that existed in the company and unlock incredible value for shareholders, clients, and employees. We brought our clients along with us every step of the way. It’s been gratifying to see DFIN emerge as the market-leading provider of regulatory and compliance solutions, and I am excited for the journey ahead.
IRU: How do you handle failures or setbacks, and what lessons have you learned from those experiences? Leib: You’ve heard the saying, ”Measure twice, cut once.” As a team, we are very intentional. We believe data-driven decision-making is smart and leads to the best outcomes. Decisions are backed by the best data we have available. As part of our planning, we also try to anticipate potential changes or problems. Setbacks happen, however, and when they do, it’s
