THE NALPEXPERIENCE
Online Training Is Now A Free Member Benefit
By Jill Odom
THE MOST VALUABLE ASSET IN OUR INDUSTRY IS PEOPLE, AND NOW NALP is making it even easier to invest in them. NALP contractor members can access comprehensive online training as a free benefit. This training is designed for landscape company employees at every level, from entry-level crew members to senior managers.
“NALP’s online courses were designed by industry experts specifically for our members, with the goal of increasing professionalism in our industry,” says Heather Parker, VP of education, events and programs for NALP. “The courses are designed to empower your team, enhance their performance, and positively impact your bottom line. The courses for technicians and managers include quizzes and certificates of completion so you can verify learning and celebrate your team members’ achievements.” New employees with no prior experi- ence can take the Landscape Technician Training Courses and gain an introductory knowledge of installation, maintenance, irrigation, turf installation, and safety.
These can also serve as a refresher course for existing employees or cross-training team members in different areas. Meanwhile, for more advanced
employees, NALP offers the Landscape Business Management Training Courses that cover essential business topics from HR and sales & marketing to finance, stra- tegic planning, operations, technology, and legal & risk management. “We’re starting with just these two training programs, but our goal is to continue to develop new ones over time so that we can impact more areas of the business by sharing more information, better training and better knowledge,” says Britt Wood, CEO of NALP. Employees can access the training
through NALP’s Learning Hub and the on-demand, self-paced format allows em- ployees to complete the training when it best fits their schedule. “Because the courses are included in the membership fee for all contractors, the only additional investment is time,” Parker says. “We encourage all companies to get started by reviewing the course offerings in our Learning Hub, selecting employees to enroll in each course, and giving them a try.” Company administrators can view course progress and completion for their employees in the Learning Hub upon request. “I really think it’s in a member’s best
interest to utilize this, because this is going to help them raise professionalism, better educate their team, and as a result, be able to run a better business,” Wood says. TE
