Emerging Leader Service Award


Corie Schoeneberg, PhD, LPC, RPT-S, NCC, for outstanding organizational


service to APT,


its Foundation for Play Therapy, and/or its chartered branches, by a member fully licensed for


         advances the value of play, play therapy, and credentialed play therapists. Corie is a Leadership Academy graduate, a Missouri APT Past President, and the Chair for APT’s University Education Committee. Corie teaches graduate courses in play therapy, provides supervision for play therapists-in-training, and is an international play therapy presenter and author.


Student Research Award


Given for outstanding research by graduate or doctoral students    promotes, or advances the value of play, play therapy, and credentialed play therapists, this


award may be presented to more than one individual a year, but is not presented if not merited.

Congratulations 2020 Awards of Excellence recipients! These awards are designed to honor those members who best represent the collective values of the play therapy community! Nominations for the 2020 Awards were evaluated by the Awards of Excellence committee, chaired by Renee Blocker Turner, PhD, LPC-S, RPT-S.


 members of APT. The Awards of Excellence will be presented in October during the APT Annual Conference in Palm Springs, CA.


APT Service Award


For outstanding organizational service and contributions to APT, its Foundation for Play Therapy, and/or its chartered  the value of play, play therapy, and credentialed play therapists. This year we are happy to present the APT Service Award to two recipients.


Gabe Lomas, PhD, RPT-S. Gabe is the current President of the New York APT Branch, and he previously served as Secretary for the Texas APT Branch. He has contributed to APT’s Play Therapy™ Magazine since 2013 as a reviewer and author, as well as serving on various APT committees including: Ethics,


Nominations, and Registration and CE. Gabe is fluent in American Sign Language and promotes play therapy with Deaf children.


Tara Moser, LCSW, RPT-S, CAAPT-S. Tara is a graduate of the APT Leadership Academy. She is the current President of

Florida APT branch, her efforts,

and passion has made Florida a Gold Branch. Tara has served on a number of APT committees, including: Awards of Excellence,
