INSPECTIONS MRCP Service Rep/Dentist Communication Guidelines

n the last Focus, we reported we had updated the radiation equipment inspection date list online at modental.org/ radiationinspections. Since that time, the Missouri Radiation Control Program (MRCP) has created a guidance document specifically designed for service reps to hand out to dental facilities that are just opening up or adding additional (+1) machines.


MRCP finds a lot of confusion when they contact facilities and tell them they need to either complete a registration or have a QE inspection, at which time the dental practice commonly reports “the service company told me they took care of all the paperwork.”


The service company DOES send MRCP a form of new installs or major repairs, but that doesn’t replace the facility’s responsibility to update its registration with MRCP or get new rooms inspected!


According to 19 CSR 20-10.030(2): “The user shall notify the department in writing within 30 days of any change with respect to his/ her radiation sources which may substantially increase or decrease the potential for exposure” and schedule an inspection of that machine within 90 days of the notification.

ADA Credentialing Service: New Reports Help States See Progress


s we have been reporting for some time, the ADA has teamed up with the non-profit CAQH to help streamline the credentialing process for dentists.

This platform is protected and free to dentists, allowing them to share their in- formation with the participating organizations they choose.

In 2018, the ADA will be making great strides to inform dentists about this service and the benefit they will receive from utilizing it. The ADA, in working with state dental associations, has provided to the MDA a new report, which outlines the current status of dentists using the ADA credentialing service in Missouri. The report provides statistics on the fol- lowing (Missouri dentist numbers):


 Unregistered—Dentists, who have been invited by a payer, who have not registered or completed their profile (1,806).


 Registered & Incomplete—Dentists who have registered and started their profile, but have not completed it (224).


 Complete & Current—Dentists who have successfully completed their profile, and submitted it to a payer (907).


As you can see by these above numbers, we have many potential dentists to complete their ADA credentialing service profile with up-to-date information. CAQH has many dentists in CAQH ProView, through the alliance with ADA, both organizations are continuing to encourage dentists to utilize what is now the ADA credentialing service. As more dentists use the system, the more likely payers are to use this system instead of repeatedly asking for the same information multiple times.


Once dentists complete the registration (ada.org/credentialing), they will then need to attest every three months (in most states) to confirm their information is up to date. Initial data entry takes some effort but once a profile is complete, re- attesting takes only a few minutes to do; simply sign on and click a box.


The bottom line is, once a dentist takes the time to add all the required informa- tion, it’s very easy from there, especially because more and more organizations seeking dentist data are signing on with CAQH. “This is one of the greatest benefits that we see for dentists,” said Jeanine Pekkarinen, Senior Manager, Dental Society Outreach. “Because it is required to attest with the same information with multiple payers multiple times, why not have it all in one area, ready for use any time.”
